The Oxford Scholastic Institute, was founded in 1980 by its present Director and Administrator, Massimo Sponsiello, who has organized numerous educational activities, such as a High School of Language and Tourism, foreign language courses, and computer courses.

The APULIA Centre for Italian Language and Culture, opened in 1994, specializes in teaching Italian as a foreign language. The school is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Public Education, by the University of Cambridge as an exam centre, by AICA for the ECDL exams (European Certificate for Computer Skills), and is in the process of receiving ISO 9001 qualification.

The school is located in the historic centre of Lecce (photo 1), in a free standing 3-storey building (photo 2) of about 2000 sq. metres, with a surrounding garden (photo 3) and a large entrance (photo 4).

There are 12 classrooms, a Language Laboratory for 16 students, a multimedia laboratory with 10 computers connected internally via LAN and connected to the Internet via ADSL phone lines, a conference room with TV and video, and a gym, all available to our students free of charge (photos 5-6-7-8-9).

The school has 20 rooms, single and double, available to the students while they attend their courses. The rooms are located in apartments equipped with kitchen, bath and a garden (photos 10-11-12).

Our Centre is also equipped with a shuttle bus service that takes the students to the beaches in the afternoons (photos 12-13)
